One year ago, Bury Care Academy began a mission to strengthen the adult social care workforce across the borough.
When we launched in August 2025, we knew there was a significant opportunity to bring together care providers, education partners, employment services and local communities to help address workforce challenges and inspire more people to consider careers in care.
Twelve months later, we're proud to share the impact of our first year.
From supporting recruitment and workforce development, to creating opportunities for young people and helping providers connect with talent, Bury Care Academy has grown into a dedicated support network for the sector across the borough.

Our Year 1 highlights video captures some of the people, programmes and partnerships that have helped shape Bury Care Academy's first year.
One of the highlights of the year was the launch of our first Young People's Project, giving young people the opportunity to explore careers in adult social care through training, placements and employer engagement.
The programme delivered fantastic results, with four of the seven participants securing employment with local adult social care providers.
‘I think it has the best course I’ve ever been on, out of any course I’ve ever done. All the knowledge, the experiences, the practical learning. For adult social care, I feel like it's really a sector I’m ready to go into and pursue as a career.’

While we're incredibly proud of what has been achieved during our first year, we're only just getting started.
Year 2 will see the return of the LEAD Programme, new Interview Workshop Sessions, the launch of the Rising Stars Programme and a packed calendar of events designed to support workforce development across Bury.
We'll continue working alongside providers, partners and local stakeholders to ensure adult social care remains a sector where people can build rewarding careers and where organisations can access the support they need to thrive.
